Camille,
32 YO
GEMINI
FROM BRITTANY
I’m Camille, a Gemini from Brittany, based in Paris, France, and shooting romantic weddings all over France, the UK and world.
I see the details of your story as pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, my aim is to reveal them to create authentic, emotional and sincere memories.
I wandered the corridors of communication and advertising for a few years, and then my camera came to feed me, little by little, on journeys, moments, events, encounters, and the images overwhelmed me with their ability to tell the story of life, of a person, of a landscape. I found that it was powerful what emerged from a photograph, and since then I’ve known that it’s my medium, my means, my way of expressing and telling stories.
An image is an eye, an interpretation, a perception of what can be seen. If I were to try and define my style, my signature, I would say that I like the spontaneity of what can be captured, the simplicity, the naturalness, the poetry of everyday life. Sometimes it comes from the framing, the light, the emotions, the width of the shot, and then it’s the obvious power of a moment. That’s just the way it is. My art is to bite into a moment and turn it into an image.

How can I define my photographic style?
I like photos that are soft, delicate, natural, lively, intimate and poetic.
I'm a passionate and sensitive photographer. Discreet by nature, reportage is the most natural way to document a wedding, drawing inspiration from every detail and diving right into the heart of the action. I also like the editorial approach. I think that every photographer makes this style their own, and we all translate it in our own way, according to our own personality or vision. The documentary approach remains primordial, but I'm looking to go further, taking care with my compositions and working on some scenography. My aim is to find the right balance between editorial and documentary, to highlight details or spontaneous moments by making them more elegant, like a painting.
Although I'm more of a pragmatist in everyday life, I've always had a dreamy, idealistic side. I've often dreamt my life like a movie, and I need to escape to feel a certain kind of freedom, a sense of letting go. Dance and drawing have always been a part of me. As a child, I drew a lot. Later, during a trip to Scotland, I started sketching the landscapes, buildings and cafés I stopped in. Photography soon became an indispensable and complementary medium to drawing. Another way of creating, in line with my sensibility and a certain taste for contemplation: I like to spend whole minutes watching the sky change color, a reflection dancing on the water, a painting, the light through a curtain, a dancer in the street, the melody of a piano.
It's my driving force, my source of inspiration, my universe.
